The proposal to remember that tragedy comes from Tommaso Foti, group leader in the Chamber of Brothers of Italy: Tomorrow the Sanremo Festival has the opportunity to pay homage to those Italians who, for so many years, have experienced the drama of being exiles in their homeland . The Day of Remembrance, which occurs on February 10, was in fact established to preserve and renew the memory of the tragedy of the Italians and all the victims of the sinkholes, of the exodus from their lands of Istrians, Fiume and Dalmatians after World War II and of the most complex affair of the eastern border. Sergio Endrigo, the late artist who played a leading role on the Ariston stage for years, personally experienced this tragedy and told us the drama of leaving his homeland in the famous song 1947. It would be really nice to have all Italians listen to it again tomorrow in prime time, for example eighty years since the beginning of the ethnic cleansing by Tito’s partisans.
