Sampdoria-Salernitana result 0-0 – Corriere.it

A missed opportunity. For everyone. Sampdoria and Salernitana do not take advantage of the 0-0 draw between the direct competitors Verona and Spezia and replicate the result of the Peak, in fact changing their respective ranking situations very little. The blucerchiati catch up with Cremonese (engaged in Reggio Emilia on Monday against Sassuolo) on 12 points but remain the bottom side of the championship, Salernitana rises to 25 leaving the distances from Spezia and Verona unchanged.

The choices

Without Gabbiadini (suspended), Lammers and Djuricic (injured), Stankovic redesigns his Samp as pu: 3-4-2-1, debut from the first minute of the former Real and PSG Jes Rodriguez with Cuisance and Sabiri in support. Leris and Augello wide on the wings, Rincon-Winks dam in the middle and a three-way line made up of Amione, Nuytinck and Zanoli ahead of Audero. Same setup for Paulo Sousa who confirms Ochoa between the posts, Gyomber, Daniliuc and Pirola in defense, Sambia and Bradaric at full range and the Coulibaly-Crnigoj couple in the middle of the field. A lot garralittle substance

Lively boot, strong, masculine, with lots garra and many fouls on both sides. In the offensive zone, Sampdoria showed up first, in the 8th minute, with an attempt from Sabiri that Ochoa watched come out just to his left. Salernitana shakes up and responds, first with a header just wide of Crnigoj (12′), then with Candreva who clamorously devours the opening goal only in front of Audero. In the 23rd minute an ugly but effective intervention by Ochoa rejected a poisonous attempt by Leris and 1′ later Augello wasted a good opportunity: Zanoli’s cross from the right, no one touched and the Sampdoria full-back ran to shoot for the stars. After half an hour Zanoli was again the protagonist, who took advantage of a double Coulibaly-Candreva indecision and flew towards the away goal with a weak kick.

Stankovic depends on Sabiri

The first half offers few other emotions: in the 33rd minute Sambia engages Audero from a standstill and 2′ after an infuriated Stankovic removes Sabiri (not during the day also in terms of desire), greatly booed by all the Ferraris. The recovery opens with a double change between the guests: Maggiore and Mazzocchi take over Crnigoj and Sambia respectively. After 3′ Piatek goes it alone and kicks finding Audero’s prompt response. Ferraris’ tension, intensity and volume rose and in the 66th minute Cuisance almost scored the Eurogol in a rather casual way with a cross-shot not far from the top corner.

The best opportunity

In the 78th minute Sampdoria came close to taking the lead: personal action by Leris and a short right-footed shot by Ochoa, then Quagliarella hit the crossbar but in an offside position. Stankovic smells victory and inserts another striker with De Luca (returning after the cruciate injury) in Cuisance’s place. The ball of the potential advantage, however, lands on Maggiore’s feet who kicks from inside the small area but is blocked for a corner by a providential intervention by Gunter. In the 90th minute Bradaric kicked high after a good recovery on Winks. Massa concedes 5′ of added time, Sampdoria throws themselves forward while Salernitana tries to withstand the blucerchiati’s impact. In the 93rd minute the guests claim a penalty for a hold against Piatek but the check also confirms the regularity of Zanoli’s intervention. It ends 0-0, the Ferraris curse continues for Stankovic who has never seen his team score from play at home since he took office on the Sampdoria bench.
