Salvini on the attack on Paris: "France respects the agreements on the Tav"

Paris brakes on the Tav and Salvini doesn’t fit. Indeed, France would intend to postpone its section of the Turin-Lyon high-speed railway until after 2043 because “it is too expensive”. Paris would intend “to build one of the access sections of the Tav in France only after the entry into operation of the Mont Cenis tunnel, between the end of 2032 and the beginning of 2033”. The hypotheses and the timetable would have been elaborated by the Coi, the Conseil d’orientation des infrastructures: graphs and evaluations are now on the table of the French government. On 22 June in Lyon there will be the new Italian-French Intergovernmental Conference.

«Beyond the insults, the controversies and the provocations that we register with amazement – is the reaction of the deputy premier and minister of infrastructures Matteo Salvini -, we are worried by the French hesitations regarding Tav. From Paris we expect clarity, seriousness and respect for agreements: Italy has been and is keeping its word, we cannot accept about-faces on an important work not only for the two countries but for all of Europe”.

We are thus at another chapter of the tensions, especially focused on the management of migrants and the work decree, between the Italian and French governments.
