A continuous unfolding and rewinding of an emotional tape, which projects memories into the present and vice versa, with backward journeys that touch the heartstrings. This “Sand – Afghanistan rewind”the debut novel by Peter Rossanoauthor from Caserta, journalist of Corriere del Mezzogiorno – Corriere della Serawith a preface by Mirella Armiero and the afterword by Marilena Lucente. The illustrations in the publication are by Maria Azzurra DeLeo. The book published in the “Frontiere” series for the types of Terra Somnia Publisher it will be presented in Naples at the Spark Mondatori bookshop bistro in Piazza Bovio on Wednesday 25 January at 6 pm. They discuss it with the author Mirella Armierothe university professor Rosanna Cioffi and the publisher Paul Miggiano.

The background of the story is that of the city of the economic boom in the Persian Gulf, Dubai, a destination for businessmen, tourists and at the same time for an unfortunate humanity in search of a job, even humble. Like that of a laborer in a construction company. Nidal leaves for the United Arab Emirates to seek his fortune. When all traces of him are mysteriously lost, the youngest of his brothers, Nadir, leaves Afghanistan to look for him. They come from a poor and numerous family, which lives on the trade of the milk of the raised goats. They dream of fulfilment, of escaping the condemnation of a life on the margins and are put to the test in the westernmost of the Arab countries, where glitz and luxury contrast with the backwardness of their origins. The novel becomes an angle from which to observe the phenomenon of migration, which remains very topical. The two brothers get lost and chase each other, trying to bridge long distances, breaking down cultural barriers, overcoming the drama of loneliness, holding on only through the power of memory. A story of misery to which, however, the young protagonist will not give up and which develops in the confused and dramatic days of the new capture of Kabul by the Taliban.

Coming soon again in Naples, the book will be presented by the author and the publisher on Monday 6 February at 6 pm LibraryOfAll IoCiSto at Vomero, with the writers Vincent Alfano And Marilena Lucente
