To grow up it is not enough to train alone at home: you need the help of a more experienced coach and explore the world outside. It so happens that one of our Made in Italy samples decides to take the plunge and open its capital to make the leap: since yesterday, Tuesday 18 October, Ermando Rosa, specialized in grinding machine tools, is controlled by Koinos Capital through Koinos Uno fund. Precisely the company chaired by Beppe Fumagalli, the former patron of Candy, one who, in short, knows about manufacturing. The current owners Riccardo and Fabrizio Rosa and the Fai financial boutique will also reinvest in the operation. “We have been manufacturing grinding machines since 1964, since my father left the family business to found his own, the grandparents assembled drills in Milani at the beginning of the 1900s,” says Riccardo Rosa.

Noble customers

The company is located in Rescaldina (Lombardy), has an average size, 52 employees for 20 million revenues, builds a hundred cars a year for important customers such as Ferrari, Boeing, Arcelor Mittal, Leonardo and already has the ‘acquisition of the competitor Favretto: “Now new opportunities are emerging abroad, they are companies of a larger size than ours and we would like to make acquisitions in the field of machine tools to become a structured group for this reason we have decided to be accompanied by a private equity” . These are not empty words: the market is changing, according to Ucimu the world demand for machine tools will go from 62.4 billion euros in 2021 to 73.9 billion expected in 2024, registering an increase of + 18.5%. Today the export of the Rescaldina company accounts for 40%, therefore strong shoulders are needed to compete. Rosa will continue to lead the Rosa Ermando from the CEO chair and will sit on a board of seven members, assisted by Koinos’ team and Luigi Maniglio.

Three shopping in 12 months

«We are a fund with transversal skills and industrial DNA, we believe we can make a contribution to companies – explains Beppe Fumagalli. From the point of view of investments, we are looking for healthy companies in sectors typically of excellence in Italy. Rosa Ermando is a leader in the grinding machine sector and now the challenge is to make it grow internationally ». The declared goal is to double the size through organic growth and external lines. “We had already met Rosa Ermando on our way because she worked indirectly with the household appliances sector and then a light bulb went on.” Koinos Uno has a budget of 150 million. Starting from the end of 2021, at the start of Koinos activities with a renewed management team, shareholdings were acquired in TreZeta, a leader in the production of soles for luxury brands, and in Platum, specialized in sustainable mobility. The investment in Rosa Ermando is the third in less than 12 months.
