The divisions on the price cap

The price of gas rises again in the wake of the divisions between the 27 EU countries. The clash on the roof over the price of gas brings up the prices on the Ttf list in Amsterdam. Futures contracts for the month of November rise by 11% to 125 euros per MWh. Two days ago, with the hypothesis of an alternative European index to the Ttf, methane had dropped to 113 euros per MWh. It will be a difficult summit, admitted the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, on the eve. The twenty-seven heads of state and government, between Thursday 20 and Friday 21 October, must try to reach an agreement on the energy package. And in particular on the introduction of a gas price cap, which at the moment is the most controversial and divisive measure. S.i deals with a formal summit which cannot therefore end with nothing. But arriving at a synthesis will not be easy. The important news is that this time the issue of the price cap has been included in a legislative proposal, albeit in a much milder form than that hoped for by Italy. There is talk of a dynamic and temporary ceiling. But at the moment this solution does not make everyone agree.
