ROME – So here are the Super Solidarity restaurants of the Campaign which took place from 16 October to 31 December 2022. These are the 49 venues, out of a total of 133 members, who stood out for their generosity and for the energy with which they joined this initiative, gathering a figure of 61,000 euros out of a total of 100,000 euros. “An important result, made even more significant by the difficult context that hits the Italian economy and the restaurant sector hard – declares Simone Garroni, director of the NGO Action Against Hunger – the chefs and restaurateurs responded with commitment and enthusiasm to the call that saw them involved in a great solidarity contest, together with their customers, whom we thank for their precious contribution to our projects in Italy and around the world”.

Who won the GOLD hat. They have won the GOLD hat, for having reached and largely exceeded the goal of 1,500 euros, 9 restaurants (3 of which are Michelin starred). A special mention deserves the La Caciara restaurant, which during the campaign period far exceeded the pre-set goal, raising over 6,000 euros. A special thanks goes to Enrico Crippa of the Piazza Duomo restaurant in Alba. Exceptional ambassador, who has believed in the initiative since the first edition.

“Around and on a table there is never only food”. “We have always thought that around a table there is never only food: what surrounds guests is the course we are most interested in enhancing, what they will really remember, the flavor that will remain in their mouths in the end, it is nothing but the experience that you live, made up of what you can touch with your hand and what you can only feel – declares Chiara Tosato, owner of the restaurant The Caciara, and adds – our performances, the laughter, the stories, the awareness of having had a good time while helping someone in need. This is why we immediately embraced the Restaurants against Hunger project, which gave an extra meaning and taste to each dish”.

The SILVER Hat. No less than 16 restaurants won the SILVER hat with collections starting at €1,000. Among the 10 starred in the category, at the top of the ranking we find the 1 Michelin Star Roman restaurant La Terrazza which missed the highest podium by a hair’s breadth. The BRONZE hat went to 24 restaurants, 14 of which were starred. Also in this case the winner is a restaurant with 1 Michelin star in the capital: the All’Oro restaurant.

The “Restaurants Against Hunger” initiative. It is a concrete way to help fight food insecurity, in Italy and in the world and, today, it takes on an even more important value, in consideration of the global food crisis we are experiencing, which affects as many as 828 million people. During the initiative, which takes place every year from 16 October to 31 December, in participating restaurants and pizzerias or sandwich bars, customers can donate 2 euros by choosing the “solidarity dish” from the menu, 50 cents for the solidarity” and the same amount for each bottle of water ordered. Thanks to the funds raised, Action Against Hunger will be able to continue to finance important projects to fight hunger and malnutrition:

in SAHEL the organization supports artificial intelligence to combat climate change;

in India it has created “garden gardens”, where the direct involvement of women promotes their autonomy and their role in society;

in LEBANON Action Against Hunger implements integrated interventions of nutrition, access to water, hygiene and health services, to improve cohesion among the most vulnerable, whether refugees or Lebanese, with an approach aimed at developing “lasting solutions”;

in the DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO works to prevent and treat malnutrition of mothers and children under 5;

finally, in ITALYthe organization continues to support the project “No More Hunger: from emergency to autonomy” for supporting employment and combating food poverty, expanding the number of people reached and bringing his intervention to Naples as well.
