The Posidonia Festival returns to the Tremiti islands. The appointment is from 5 to 9 July with forums, excursions, and debates on state of health of Posidonia in the waters of the Diomedee Marine Reserve. Under the Tremiti Islands in fact, the protected marine area hosts a meadow of Posidonia oceanica as well as a forest of black coral, both veritable laboratories for studying biodiversity and the future of the sea. A plant, Posidonia, capable of producing oxygen and absorbing CO2 2.5 times higher than the Amazon forest. An ancient organism that plays a decisive role in the fight against climate change and global warming. And yet, although it functions like a lung lying on the seabed and is considered a fundamental organism for the protection of the marine ecosystem balance, it is constantly at risk.

All with one goal: to raise awareness of the importance of defending the Posidonia oceanica capable of maintaining the balance of the coastal and marine ecosystems of the Mediterranean and, therefore, also of the Tremiti Islands. For five days, we will work on the state of health of our Posidonia meadows and we will cross-reference this data with the reports of scientists and research institutes that will converge on Tremiti A moment of debate in which the goal is to bring operators, residents and tourists together”.
