It could have been worse but also better. This – in summary – is the outcome of the eightieth edition of the Golden Globes, held tonight at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills and broadcast exclusively on Sky Atlantic (in the United States on NBC and Peacock TV). The honors of the famous awards of the Hollywood foreign press association are done this year by the comedian Jerrod Carmichael who, between multiple changes of clothes (almost one every two commercial breaks), begins with a (self-deprecating) “I’m here because I’m black” and then continues with jokes often focused on the racial and politically incorrect issue – with the addition of brief and effective jabs at Tom Cruise and Kanye West (and others).
