Develop and strengthen the synergies between the operator of the national transmission grid and the State Police, with the aim of guaranteeing maximum safety of the electricity infrastructures throughout the Italian territory. These are the purposes of the agreement signed today between capo of the Police, the Director General of Public Security Lamberto Giannini and the CEO of Terna Stefano Donnarumma, which is part of the Memorandum of Understanding between Terna and the Ministry of the Interior.

For many years the State Police has paid particular attention to safeguarding of critical infrastructures – underlined prefect Giannini – and in this context the protection of energy networks, thanks to the new agreement signed today, is of even more strategic importance, also in relation to the current international scenario. The protection of 75 thousand kilometers of power lines and 900 electrical stations throughout the Italian territory is an activity that has the highest priority for us and that we carry out with great commitment – commented Stefano Donnarumma, who defines the agreement as an evolution of the collaboration with the State Police. Thanks to this agreement, in fact, we make technologically advanced protection systems available to the State Police and, more importantly, we share skills and know-how to make the infrastructures managed by Terna ever safer and more reliable.

In detail, as reported on the ministry’s website, following the agreement the company and the Police will activate a telematic link for the control of the monitored sites, facilitating the exchange of information and images between the competent Police Headquarters and the Security Operations Center (SOC) of the transmission network manager and the territorially competent Police Headquarters. To this is added the commitment to provide the territorial structures of the Police, involved in the surveillance of sensitive sites of the electricity infrastructure, as well as 300 technological devices to manage the sending of geo-localized reports in a timely manner of any intrusion attempts, making the intervention by police officers quicker. With this agreement, moreover, Terna and the State Police undertake to carry out a joint activity of training, sharing of skills and know-how on the intervention procedures to be implemented, as well as analysis of the systems and information and telematic technologies adopted. , to prevent, manage and combat any form of offense relating to the infrastructure managed by Terna.
