The controversy surrounding the Piombino regasification terminal continues. The Lazio Regional Administrative Court has postponed the hearing on the appeal against the authorization procedure presented by the Municipality to 5 July. The regasification ship is due to arrive, it is estimated around March 15, and will start operating as early as spring. In more detail, the Municipality disputes the Commissioner’s Order which led to the issue of the authorization for the construction of a regasification terminal in the port through the permanent mooring of a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) vessel. An installation criticized on several fronts, so much so that a demonstration is also planned for 11 March in Piombino against the regasification terminal and against the fossil works. In Piazza Usb and Cobas, Legambiente and Greenpeace.

Meanwhile, on February 21, the Golar Tundra, Snam’s regasifier ship which will be moored for three years in the port of Piombino, left the Singapore shipyard and should go into operation in the spring. She is currently traveling to Tuscany and, according to Vesselfinder, she has recently passed India. Going back to the hearing, the reason for the postponement of the discussion is linked to two technical reasons: on the one hand, the fact that there were no terms of defense provided for by law. In addition, the appellant Municipality would have asked to challenge the decree issuing the Hague (Integrated Environmental Authorization) which has yet to be adopted.
