Piazza Affari’s rise in the session accelerated, with the Ftse Mib gaining 1.07% at 10.30 to 27,452.31 points. The other European Stock Exchanges are also growing: the German inflation figure, slightly below estimates, is pulling the markets above all, which gives hope for a loosening of the ECB’s monetary policy. The best stock exchange is that of Frankfurt which rises by 1.4%, followed by Amsterdam (+1.3%) and Paris (+1.2%), with Milan growing by one percentage point.

The price list

At continental levels, the increases are led by the Industry (+2.33%) and Banks (+1.8%) sectors. In Piazza Affari this is reflected in the strong purchases on Unicredit (+3.96%) which enjoys the general positive climate on the sector, which sees Credit Agricole in Paris leap by 6% after the accounts. Among the stocks highlighted in Milan are also Stellantis +3.09%, Iveco Group +2.69% and Cnh Industrial +2.4%, while in Amsterdam the shareholder Exor rises by 0.72%. Opposite sign for Hera (-2%) following the presentation of the 2026 plan, Bper (-1.22%) after the 2022 accounts judged by some analysts to be lower than expected and Tim (-1.15%) which remains observed special awaiting news on the network front. On the foreign exchange market, the euro strengthens to 1.0772 dollars (1.0736 at the start), when the price of crude oil is slightly up. (here the data in real time).

The European Stock Exchanges

A session of strong purchases for European stocks which celebrate the data on German inflation in January. Although it recorded an increase, reaching 8.7% compared to the same month a year ago (+1% the monthly variation), analysts underline that it is below the peak of October 2022 (when it reached 10.4 %) and that – although the federal statistics office did not give details – energy prices should be falling. In Frankfurt the Dax40 rose by 1.44%, in Paris the Cac40 by 1.43%, in Amsterdam the Aex by 1.59%, in London the Ftse100 by 0.64% and in Madrid the Ibex35 by 0.71%. Strong sales on the Zurich stock exchange on Credit Suisse after the accounts: the title yields 10% under the three Swiss francs. The fourth quarter result was worse than estimates and brought the red for the entire year to 7.3 billion Swiss francs (about 7.4 billion euros).

Spreads

Start of fractional decline for the spread between BTp and Bund. In the early stages, the yield differential between the ten-year benchmark BTP (Isin IT0005518128) and the same German maturity amounted to 186 basis points from the 187 points recorded at yesterday’s closing, to then move on to 184. A sharper decline, however, for the yield of the 10-year benchmark BTP which stands at 4.17% at the start from 4.24% on the day before closing (here the spread in real time).
