The academic, forced to resign after the (even violent) boycott, will speak today at the Einaudi Foundation in Rome

Posters, flyers, petitions, tear gas, physical intimidation outside the university… A mild-mannered scholar treated like a war criminal and the university advising her to go to class with an escort. In the end, Kathleen Stock she resigned from her post following a relentless campaign of lynchings and character assassinations that is unprecedented in the recent history of European universities. University students, external activists and her colleagues had accused the 48-year-old professor of “transphobia” and had moved to get her fired. “The strain Stock is under is palpable: she burst into tears twice during our conversation”, writes the Financial Times. “At one point, we were interrupted by the delivery of a surveillance camera, which the police told her to install.” Stock defines herself as a “gender-critical feminist,” meaning she believes that biological sex matters and that being born a woman comes with rights that shouldn’t be extended to anyone who identifies with that gender. The philosopher will meet today in Rome with the students of the School of Liberalism of the Luigi Einaudi Foundation, to address the issue of rights.
