The Gemonio summit. A few minutes ago a meeting wanted by Umberto Bossi ended in his home in Gemonio, in the province of Varese. The coordinators of the Northern Committee were present, the current within the League wanted a few months ago by the founder of the party himself. Namely, the former secretary of the Lombard League Paolo Grimoldi and the MEP Angelo Ciocca. But the big surprise was the presence of Attilio Fontana, the governor of Lombardy who had already met Bossi in the region a few days ago.

Final decisions, it seems, have not been made. But a new meeting was scheduled immediately after New Year’s, in the presence of the deputy secretary of the League – as well as the minister for the economy – Giancarlo Giorgetti. It is difficult to say with certainty what will emerge from the meetings. Probably, Fontana is expected to give some places on the list in his name to the regional councilors who have formed the «Comitato Nord» group in the regional council. But the road is not easy: the directors have already been expelled from the League. Matteo Salvini has already said that the current commissioner of Lombardy, Fabrizio Cecchetti, will have to deal with the match. But the road seems to be uphill. Many are convinced that the four councilors will land and support Letizia Moratti’s race. But a solitary run with its own candidate for president is by no means excluded.
