The Budget bill currently under discussion in the Chamber provides for new features for parental leave for new working mothers.

What changes?
Article 66 increases the percentage of paid parental leave paid to employed new mothers.

Who can use it?
The measure for new mothers who are still on maternity leave on 1 January 2023. It does not apply to those who complete the period by 31 December 2022.

Does the salary change?
S. For a maximum of 30 days (which can also be used in fractions), the percentage of remuneration destined for the mother is increased, which then goes from the current 30% to 80%.

How does it work today?
Today there are 9 months of paid parental leave for employees and can be used up to the child’s 12 years of age. Each parent has the right to 3 months of leave to which another 3 months of optional leave are added, but these can be used as an alternative. Parental leave is also envisaged for male and female self-employed workers.
