Berlusconi’s notes, in the Senate, on Meloni: “Arrogant, offensive behavior, no willingness to change, it’s one you can’t get along with”

Giorgia Meloni. Behavior 1. opinionated 2. bossy 3. arrogant 4. offensive. No willingness to change. She is one you can’t get along with“.

It was written on a sheet of headed “Villa San Martino” paper Silvio Berlusconithe leader of Forza Italia, on what was perhaps his darkest day – yesterday – with the election of Ignazio La Russa as president of the Senate, which took place without the forced votes, and Meloni’s “no” to a role of government for Licia Ronzulli, who is a faithful collaborator of Cavaliere.

The note, destined to remain private, was photographed in the folder that Berlusconi kept on his desk, in the Senate chamber: a folder on which everyone’s eyes were focused during the verbal confrontation between the leader of Forza Italia and La Russian.

In the note appear some words that have been deleted: another heavy adjective dedicated to the behavior of the leader of the Brothers of Italy, and premier in pectore (“5. silly”) and a non-neutral reformulation of the last sentence (from “no change” to “no willingness to change”).

It was also contained in Berlusconi’s papers a proposal of ministries for representatives of Forza Italia. At least 3, from what has been reconstructed, those indicated for Licia Ronzulli; European Policies, Tourism and Relations with Parliament. To each proposal, Meloni would have opposed his no.

According to the reconstruction of Tommaso Labate, on Thursday morning – during the meeting between the leader of the Brothers of Italy and that of Forza Italia – the comparison would have been decidedly tense:

“Giorgia, are you willing to recognize me three more ministries?” Is Berlusconi’s argument. “No,” replies the Prime Minister in pectore with the smile of someone who is faced with an absurd claim. The replies to Berlusconi’s request to have two more ministries, then only one, will be “no”. «All right, Giorgia. Then we come to the ministers », Berlusconi ventures starting the list. “Are you willing to have Tajani for Foreigners?” “Yes,” is the answer. It will be the only affirmative answer that comes from Meloni. Who will then pronounce the other two sharp “no” that push Forza Italia out of the perimeter of the voters of La Russa to the presidency of the Senate: the first is for the Ministry of Justice, which will not end up with a representative indicated by the Azzurri; the second is for Licia Ronzulli, whose presence is destined to remain outside the ministerial radar. At this point the collective psychodrama of the blues begins.

Berlusconi and Meloni had also had a tense meeting on Wednesday. As reconstructed here:

“Meloni went on Wednesday to visit the center-right patriarch in his Roman home: a relaxing gesture, after having said several times that the top is held in institutional offices. But she went awful. The former premier wants important ministries: Justice, Economic Development, Health, Infrastructure. Above all, he insists on a key position for his loyal Licia Ronzulli. Meloni says no and Berlusconi unleashes himself with his family: “You can’t think of ruling over everything and everyone. You have to respect us, you can’t treat us like that “.

But why do we fight so much about Ronzulli? Meloni has been repeating for days that he seeks “competence” and “high profile”, and believes that these two requirements automatically exclude the former nurse, whom everyone seems to hate except Berlusconi, of whom he has become the shadow in recent years. The impression is that he wants to oppose the Ronzullian rise right now: in other words, Meloni trembles at the thought of depending in the future on Licia Ronzulli for the stability of her government ».

Silvio Berlusconi’s interlocutors said yesterday that they had not seen him like this even in the darkest moments of the relationship with Umberto Bossi or Gianfranco Fini.

And the corsair vote in La Russa president of the Senate would be proof that Forza Italia’s contribution would not be so decisive.

A reconstruction also made abroad: Silvio Berlusconi, “annoyed by Meloni for not accepting the requests regarding the division of ministries, tried to boycott the vote for the new president of the Senate, which had to be a formality – writes El Paìs
. The Knight, however, ended up being humiliated and directly undermining the unity of the future government ».

Should the election of the Northern League player Lorenzo Fontana as Speaker of the Chamber have brought things together? According to Lorenzo Cesa, yes: «The climate is very different compared to yesterday. The center-right has regrouped after the slip in the Senate, determined not by Berlusconi, because someone like him would never have done it, but by pressure within Forza Italia. The signal that arrives today is of great hope for the future ».

And even Adnkronos reports that Silvio Berlusconi would have given his ok to the election of the Northern League’s Lorenzo Fontana as president of the Chamber: “I met Fontana during my trips to Europe, he is a good person, whom I respectHe would have said last night, during the dinner with the Azzurri senators at Villa Grande.

But those notes on Meloni – and that sentence: “One you can’t get along with” – are destined to weigh like boulders.
