Four plants in Italy

The operation involves four plants distributed between Lombardy, Tuscany and the Marches, with 4,638 employees. The transaction is currently subject to a European antitrust proceeding. The resolution of the dpcm takes place less than a week after the rescue of the former Whirlpool plant in Naples, which will be entrusted to Tea Tek Group Spa, a leading Italian company in electrical and photovoltaic systems, safeguarding over 300 jobs. On the dispute, Mimit has convened the parties involved for next May 16, on the recommendation of Minister Urso.
The agreement reached in January
In January, Whirlppol announced the sale of 75% to Arelik A.Ş, a Turkish household appliance manufacturer, keeping the remaining 25% for the management of the European business. The agreement creates a strategic platform with over 6 billion euros in turnover, with over 200 million euros in cost synergies. The terms require Whirlpool to contribute its own brands Whirlpool, Hotpoint, Bauknecht and Indesit; while Arcelik will do so with its home appliances, consumer electronics, air conditioning and small appliances businesses. Separately, Whirlpool has achieved a agreement in principle for the sale and transfer of its assets in the Middle East and Africa always to the Turkish multinational. Whirlpool will continue to own the assets of the EMEA business of KitchenAid small appliances.
Fiom-Cgil and Fim-Cisl ask for intervention by Minister Urso
