Betting on the birth rate, yes, but in what sense? The government has a sensational idea and it is this: no taxes for those who have children. Yesterday in Milan at the Salone del Mobile, the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, returned to face one of the great Italian emergencies: the dramatic fall in the birth rate of our country. Meloni said that the government intends to “incentivise the birth rate”which is now at its all-time low, with fewer than seven newborns and more than twelve deaths per thousand inhabitants, with 393,000 births and 713,000 deaths in 2022, with 1.5 million fewer residents than in 2014, and has recalled that the theme concerns “the stability of our economic and social system”. Betting on the birth rate, therefore, is a priority for the government, but how is it possible to move concretely and without rhetoric from the verb to chat to the verb to act?
