After failing to be appointed undersecretary for education, Valentina Aprea leaves Forza Italia after almost 30 years in Silvio Berlusconi’s party. “With great bitterness and amazement – reads a message from Aprea that is circulating in the various internal chats of the Azzurri – and despite the promise made to me personally by President Berlusconi on the evening of September 26, the day after the unfortunate electoral result in my College , I learned from the press that I had not received the post of Undersecretary for Education ». Aprea, in addition to the party, also leaves the position of director of the Education Department. “I’m hurt, dignity has a price, I’m only sorry for Berlusconi,” he confides to Corriere. But he does not intend to make further statements, and also regrets that the note of his farewell has been released publicly.

A life for school

For years a school manager in Milan 3, in the Berlusconi district, then with Berlusconi in politics since ’94, undersecretary with Letizia Moratti from 2011 to 2006, commission president, regional councilor in Lombardy, and again in Parliament where he completed the reform Moratti, and contributed to writing many parts of the Pnrr, she was considered among the eligible candidates for the post of Minister of Education. Those who are very close to her know that she was keen to complete the Pnrr writing work for the school, attesting to Forza Italia the merit of having contributed to the projects. But she then saw herself first ousted by the Northern League player Giuseppe Valditara, then even removed from the list of undersecretaries. Hence a decision that was absolutely painful.

“Forza Italia was certainly not required to recover, but in this month I continued to believe that my relaunch was possible for various reasons” – writes Aprea in the message. “The first was linked precisely to the commitment that President Berlusconi had made with mein the presence of Lombard parliamentarians and beyond. The second is because in all these years I have promoted, in the name of Forza Italia, successful visions, policies and actions in the education sector. The third because in the PNRR there are many laws strongly desired by us (by ME) and it would have been an advantage for Forza Italia to take care of their implementation and continue to have the credit for having wanted them (think for example of the ITS Academy!). That’s not how she went. Probably, indeed certainly, Forza Italia no longer needs me, even if the many “worlds” do not think so (from CEI, Confindustria, trade unions, managers, teachers, families ..) that in these hours they told me of their surprise at the fact that I (Berlusconi’s loyal loyalist), and, according to them, the most expert and most competent, was left out of the government! I will never deny my story, my passion for Forza Italia, my gratitude for President Berlusconi, but the time has come to leave you. I am also leaving the position of Director of the Education Department which I have, up to now, guided with passion and competence », he concludes. And now? “I will continue to contribute, but from the outside,” she assures us.
