The cultural association Locus Iste, with the moral patronage of the Municipality of Naples and the Metropolitan City, proposes the second appointment of the cultural project “Pizzofalcone, the history of the city written in tuff”.

An itinerary aimed at discovering the ridge of Monte di Dio and the Nunziatella Military SchoolAlong the street on which noble palaces insist we will reveal the conventual character of the place that has long since given way to a purely military connotation of the same. We will get to know “the Monte di Dio” and we will walk along an ancient avenue that will lead us to a spectacular view of Chiaia. There we will see aristocratic residences and the “Rosso Maniero” of which, led by C.le Magg.Ca.Sc. Marcello Nori, we will know the story. From the original Jesuit novitiate to the Royal Military Academy of Ferdinand IV of Bourbon, this place will be an emotional journey into the glorious history of this School that prepares “for life and arms”. After crossing the solemn entrance door, we will greet the Masso del Grappa. In the Duca d’Aosta Museum, we will see some relics of the First World War and we will discover the story of the second Duke of Aosta who was among the greatest Italian generals of the Great War. Finally the church, a jewel of the Neapolitan Baroque work of Ferdinando Sanfelice, with the seven altarpieces dedicated to the Marian life cycle. The high altar richly decorated with polychrome marble and embellished with two pairs of torch-holding angels Sammartinoand in the center of the single nave, a dizzying vault with frescoes by Francesco de Mura.
