Schlein, in response, speaking in Piazza Pulita in the evening: I do not agree with Bonaccini’s statements: I have a clear and very negative opinion of Meloni. And then she added: I would like the premier to take 12 seconds of her time to declare herself anti-fascist.

The controversy was triggered by Letta’s words, questioned by the New York Times, about Meloni: On economic issues it turned out to be better than we expected. A few hours later Bonaccini confirmed: Not a fascist, a capable person. Above all, the statements of the candidate for the secretariat have provoked the reaction of many dem close to Schlein, such as the former minister Andrea Orlando, at the center of the clash with FdI for the visit to Cospito prison. Yesterday back on the topic: Letta is wrong. This right, which delegitimizes the opposition, can be dangerous. And Francesco Boccia explained that he disagreed with Bonaccini because Meloni is our opponent without ifs and buts.

In addition to the controversy, then, among the supporters of Schlein, who yesterday received the endorsement of the actor Claudio Amendola (Vote female, Schlein, because of the left), the suspicion is circulating that that consonance of declarations could herald an axis between Letta and the candidate to succeed him later in the count among the members. An axis that would be reflected, in the event of Bonaccini’s victory, in the assignment of government roles to the party and the parliamentary groups, although in this congressional affair the distance between first and second is for now in the order of twenty percentage points.

New episode of a bitter confrontation, yesterday, also on the hypothesis of cards inflated by supporters of Bonaccini in Caserta. Schlein invokes the moral question: No more club bosses, packs of cards, sultanates. While Bonaccini hurls the accusation of having the entire management team on his side.
