Municipalities, towards the ballots: here are the seven decisive challenges for Meloni and Schlein

Ballots May 28-29, the challenge to decide who among the center-right will lead Giorgia Meloni and centre-left at the helm Elly Schlein he will have won these administrations. In the first round, the centre-right conquered four mayors in the provincial capitals (reconquest of Latin and reconfirm a Sondrio, Treviso, Imperia) and the centre-left two (reconfirmation a Brescia And Teramo). Now the eyes are on the second round in the capitals of Ancona, Brindisi, Vicenza, Pisa, Siena, Massa and Terni. Overall, 1.3 million voters in 41 cities will be called to vote.

Ancona

Historic red stronghold, Ancona sees centre-left allies and the Third Pole. The center-right points to the historic turnaround, after which surprisingly Daniel Silvetti (coming from Fi), with 45%, surpassed the centre-left and Third Pole candidate Ida Simonella (41.3%) in the first round. The centre-left has already launched its courtship towards the third classified, the civic candidate with a long history on the left Francesco Rubini Filogna, who took 6.1%. Likewise, the courtship started towards the M5s (the candidate Enrico Sparapani took 3.6%) and the Greens (Roberto Rubegni supported, 1.7%). There will be no formal appearances, however the centre-left hopes that the electorates are close to these candidates, making the final outcome very uncertain.

Appearance formal instead there was in the center-right between Silvetti and the list Let’s start from the young with the youngest candidate for mayor in Italy (22 years old) Marco Battino, who in the first round garnered 2.18% of the votes.

Toasts

Brindisi, coming from a centre-left administration, sees the centre-right candidate, the independent Giuseppe Marchionna (also supported by the Third pole) ahead after the first round with 44%, while the centre-left candidate, expression of the Five Stars, Roberto Fusco, took 33%. Here too, albeit without formal appearances, the centre-left hopes for the electorate of the excluded: the candidate of Verdi-Si, Riccardo Rossi, who has a dowry of 10.1%. But Rossi is the outgoing mayor, which the center-left did not re-nominate him, choosing Fusco, also by virtue of the agreement between the Pd and the M5s. The center-right, on the other hand, looks to Pasquale Luperti’s electorate of the Salento Region Movement, a civic linked to the center-right, who obtained 12.5%.

Vicenza

The match is also very uncertain in Vicenza, where the outgoing mayor Francis Rucco (centre-right independent from An) stopped at 44%, while the centre-left and Third Pole candidate, Giacomo Possamai, obtained 46.2%. Here the candidates outside the two main poles have only collected the crumbs (even the M5S did not even reach 1.7%): the challenge will be won by whoever manages to reconfirm the most votes in the second round.
