Polling stations closed today at 3 pm for ballots in 41 Municipalities including 7 provincial capitals (in the first round the centre-right won in four capitals, the centre-left in two). There was also a vote in Sicily for the first round in 128 Municipalities (four large cities at the polls: Catania, Trapani, Ragusa and Syracuse). And in Sardinia for 171 municipalities. With a possible ballot in cities with over 15,000 inhabitants scheduled for 11 and 12 June.

Ballots, turnout at 49.9%, down

Turnout down at 3 pm for the ballots in the 7 capitals and 34 municipalities of the Pensioloa where the vote was taken: with the ballot almost completed, the figure is 49.9%, down compared to the first round (58.8%). The Viminale website communicates it. In Sardinia, where 171 municipalities vote in the first round, the turnout at 3 pm (114 sections out of 171) is 66.5% (65.9% in the previous municipal ones).

Exit poll Catania, Trantino in the lead with 56-60%

In the municipal elections of Catania the candidate of centre-right Enrique Tarantino it is ahead in the exit polls (Noto polls for Videoregion Sicily) with a gap between 56% and 60%. The centre-left candidate Maurizio Caserta follows in second place with a gap between 27.5% and 31.5%

Exit poll Trapani, Miceli in the lead with 42-46%

In the municipal elections of Trapani, the candidate of centre-right Maurice Miceli it is ahead in the exit polls (Noto polls for Videoregion Sicily) with a gap between 42% and 46%. In second place is the outgoing mayor Giacomo Tranchida – candidate of the centre-left – with a gap between 38% and 42%.

Exit poll Syracuse, Messina in the lead with 24-28%

In Syracuse the candidate of centre-right Ferdinando Messina it is ahead in the exit polls (Noto polls for Videoregion Sicily) with a gap between 24% and 28%. Renata Giunta follows, in second place, with a gap between 23% and 27%. Third place for the outgoing mayor Francesco Italia, candidate of some civic lists, with 20-24%.
