MotoGp, Germany: Bagnaia on pole, Marini also on the front row

SACHSENRING. Impregnable Pecco, he is still pole: the third consecutive and the fifteenth of his career in the premier class, like a certain Wayne Rainey! The world champion closes qualifying on the Saxon circuit with the best time and is booked for another weekend to remember: this afternoon in the sprint race (3 pm) and tomorrow in the German GP he will start in front of everyone, alongside Luca Marini. Valentino Rossi’s brother confirmed a splendid moment of form astride the Ducati of the Mooney Vr46 team: after coming close to the podium at Mugello, he will certainly be the protagonist. Too bad for his teammate, Marco Bezzecchi, who had a super-time trial canceled by yet another yellow flag waved on the track due to so many crashes. Front row also for the Australian Miller’s Ktm, while the second row is monopolized by the bikes of Borgo Panigale (in the end there are 5 Reds in the first 6): Zarco, who ended up sprawled in the final, did better than Bez and of Martin, who rides with the Frenchman for the Pramac team. Only the third row for a stubborn, very brave Marc Marquez: the Cannibal crashed for the first time during Q1, he ran to the Honda box gaining the passage to Q2. In the second session he ended up on the asphalt again: he got up with a limp, started again and the 7th time is still an extraordinary result, just ahead of his brother Alex and Binder. Fourth row for Aleix Espargarò, then an unfortunate Bastianini who in turn was going very fast before being stopped by the yellow card, and Quartararo.

Pecco is happy: “It’s important to start up front on this track”

For Bagnaia there is a good opportunity to increase his lead in the standings. “Starting from pole on a track like this, where overtaking isn’t easy at all, is very important. In qualifying I did 4-5 very fast laps, but in the end they counted me one. In the race, the choice of front tire will be decisive, we’re still thinking about it”. Big smiles also for Luca Marini, who confessed to the microphones of Sky: “This morning there was very little technician: I had to give everything, riding on the wet as if I were on the dry, trying at the same time to keep the tires warm. It’s a shame, because on the last lap of Q2 I was going really fast but in the final corner I was about to lose control: I narrowly saved myself”.
