The executive headed for the first time by a woman, the third youngest Prime Minister. But the over 50s prevail among the ministers. And only 8 out of 24 are not parliamentarians

The Meloni government
the first in republican history to be led by a woman and this, regardless of the results she will be able to obtain, will be the characteristic that will go down in the annals. The proverbial breaking of the glass ceiling arrived at 76 years after the birth of the Republic, a very long wait thinking about how soon other nations similar to ours arrived. In the executive, however, the number of ministers decreased slightly, passing from 7 out of 23 of the Draghi government (Gelmini, Carfagna, Dadone, Bonetti, Stefani, Lamorgese, Messa) to the current 6 out of 24 (Calderone, Bernini, Santanch, Roccella, Casellati, Locatelli). There are always three owners of ministries with portfolio, even if of less specific political weight: today Work, University and Tourism are led by women; in the previous executive they were Interno, Giustizia and Universit.

Geographical origin

Prime Minister Meloni, famously Roman, grew up in the Garbatella district. Its executive for unbalanced towards the North: they are indeed 15 ministers from northern regions (five from Lombardyhowever, all leaguers: Salvini, Giorgetti, Locatelli, Calderoli, Valditara; four Piedmontese: Crosetto, Santanch, Pichetto Fratin and Zangrillo, the latter also claimed by Liguria for its Genoese origins; three Venetians: Nordio, Urso, Casellati; two from Emilia: Bernini and Roccella; one from Friuli, Ciriani). From the Center, and specifically only from Lazio in addition to Meloni, Tajani, Lollobrigida, Abodi and Schillaci come from. You are the representatives of the government from the southern regions: obviously the minister for the SouthNello Musumeci, who Sicilian; the two bells Sangiuliano and Piantedosi; there Sardinian Cauldron and the Apulian Dense. The undersecretary of Palazzo Chigi also arrives from Salento, who in fact has the rank of a minister, Alfredo Mantovano.

Age

With his 45 years Giorgia Meloni on the podium in the ranking of the youngest Prime Minister. in third place, preceded by Matteo Renziwho became one at 39, and from Giovanni Goria, who went up to Palazzo Chigi at the age of 44. Amintore Fanfani was also 45 years old when he became prime minister on January 18, 1954, but that government had a very short life because in reality he did not gain confidence in Parliament and therefore fell on February 10 after only 22 days. However, the average age of Meloni’s ministers tends to be high: they are there 12 over 60, 10 over 50 and alone 3 forty years old (in addition to the leader there are Matteo Salvini who is 49 and Alessandra Locatelli who is 46).

MPs and technicians

Another issue concerns the holding of the government majority in parliamentary work. Giorgia Meloni has in fact chosen 9 ministers among the newly elected senators (Ciriani, Pichetto Fratin, Calderoli, Musumeci, Casellati, Urso, Salvini, Bernini and Santanch) and 7 between deputies (Tajani, Nordio, Crosetto, Urso, Lollobrigida, Musumeci, Fitto. Any problems could arise at Palazzo Madama, where the majority counts on 115 senators out of 200 – and majority a 104 counting also the senators for life -, so absences due to institutional commitments could be felt, especially in the event of internal fibrillations in the coalition. Non-parliamentary ministers are 8: Abodi, Locatelli, Piantedosi, Crosetto, Calderone, Sangiuliano, Schillaci and Valditara. Virtually all technicians except Valditara who in the past held various elective positions with An, Pdl and Futuro and Libert, while now in the Lega. The weight of political ministers respects the result of the elections: 9 of Brothers of Italy, 5 of the League e 5 by Forza Italia. No centrist on the front line.

The veterans of Berlusconi

The first center-right political government launched today that takes office 11 years after the last one chaired by Silvio Berlusconithe fourth led by the founder of Forza Italia, who swore theMay 8, 2011. There are four exponents of the current executive who were already ministers at the time: Raffaele Fitto (Regions), Roberto Calderoli (Administrative simplification), Anna Maria Bernini (EU policies, but later took over from Andrea Ronchi) and Giorgia Meloni herself ( Youth policies). But Urso was also part of that executive, as Deputy Minister of Economic Development, and several undersecretaries: Santanch, Mantovano, Crosetto, Casellati, Musumeci, Roccella. In short, 11 of the current ministers are former members of that government. Of which he was also minister Ignazio La Russa, in Defense, who became president of the Senate in recent days. And they were part of it Renato Brunetta, Maria Stella Gelmini And Mara Carfagnawho until a few hours ago were ministers of Mario Draghi.
