Molinari, the "Salvinian" lawyer to the presidency of the Chamber

Riccardo Molinari should be, on the basis of majority agreements, the new Speaker of the Chamber. A role initially disputed with Giancarlo Giorgetti. Indicated by the League, Riccardo Molinari is very close to Matteo Salvini (in addition to being a figure also appreciated by the opposition). He is currently the leader of the Carroccio in the Chamber.

Very young lawyer, “Salvinian” – as many define him – Riccardo Molinari was born in Alessandria on 29 July 1983. We know little about his biography as well as his private life: he graduated in Law from the University of Genoa in 2008 and undertook career as a lawyer.

Political career and entry into the Northern League

His entry into politics dates back to 1999 when he joined the Northern League, and in 2010 he ran for the regional in Piedmont. Elected councilor he then obtained the appointment as vice president of the assembly. But he was also regional councilor for local authorities and security from 2013 to 2014 in the council of the president of the Piedmont Region Roberto Cota, remaining in office until 25 May 2014.

Secretary of the Northern Piedmont League

The closeness and support of Matteo Salvini made themselves felt in 2016, when he was elected secretary of the Northern Piedmont League. The following year, however, after the party’s victory in the elections, he was elected councilor in his hometown: Alexandria.

Election to Parliament

In 2018 Molinari entered Parliament: elected to the Chamber of Deputies together with his party (the League), he decided to abandon his role in the municipal council of Alessandria. And he was chosen as president of the parliamentary group (succeeding Giancarlo Giorgetti, appointed undersecretary of state to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in the first Conte government) maintaining the position for the entire legislature
