The leader of the M5S reacts to the positions taken by the executive and by the majority. «On the Delmastro case, I jumped from my seat as a citizen, as a jurist, as a politician»

Raise your tone Giuseppe Conte, leader of the M5S, this morning at the attack on the government and the majority. There is some on annuities for former parliamentarians, minimum wage, Mes, tax authorities, the Covid commission, justice. “President La Russa will be pressed by us every day until we take away the annuities of all former parliamentarians,” the former premier spoke to the microphones of Sky Tg24, referring to the resolution approved by Palazzo Madama on the restoration of annuities. Then it’s up to justice: «Someone has the illusion that there was a turning point, that a new discourse could be set up, once the conflict of interest of Berlusconi’s anomaly had been overcome. The Meloni government, on the other hand, has plunged us again into the greatest clash with the judiciary. He did so at the press conference after Vilnius in which the judiciary was accused in the Delmastro case. I jumped from my chair as a citizen, as a jurist, as a politician».

Conte then took aim at economic issues: «When President Meloni spoke of a package logic on the Mes, after having accused me of tafazzism, my arms dropped. It’s a vertical loss of credibility.” While on the modification of the Stability Pact you added: “If Meloni plays the lioness on social media and then goes to Brussels or Washington and folds, we will end up with a Stability Pact that still chokes our growth”. Not to mention the minimum wage: «We will never give the government a break on the minimum wage. We are ready to make it a European battle for the future of our country. I regret not having been able to get the minimum wage law approved either in the Conte I government or in the Conte II government because there was no majority in Parliament”.

«The responsibility for the emergence of the undeclared the government has it when it is fighting in Europe against the use of the POS and is raising the cash threshold, when it is launching 12 measures in favor of tax evaders and corrupt people». One point, the fiscal one, which in the meantime had already raised criticisms, such as the one expressed by Luigi Marratin, deputy of Azione-Italia viva, against Matteo Salvini, a supporter of the so-called “fiscal peace”: “Salvini is like Trapattoni, he always plays with the same form. He does the interviews in which he asks for the amnesty, then the government seizes the current accounts of the tax evaders. Article 16 of the tax delegation just approved in the Chamber, in fact, contains a principle of delegation that allows for the automatic seizure of the current accounts of tax evaders. A right measure, which not even Vincenzo Visco had ever managed to do. This is why Salvini needs to “muina”. And the beauty is that everyone falls for it ».

As for Conte, he continued: «Let’s not talk nonsense. The government cannot tell low-paid workers to “make do”, no to the “legal minimum wage” and then reintroduce annuities. They are consciously building an extension of a social unease, we must avoid it, we must make them think, they must govern to satisfy the needs of citizens, not for friends of friends who want contracts without public tenders, not to encourage investigations to avoid the resignation of the clique and attack the judiciary that does its duty”.

Then the leader of the M5S addressed the issue of the establishment of the Covid Commission: «It was supposed to be an opportunity for the whole country to reflect on what went wrong. Why have we come to such insufficient health care. With this Commission of Inquiry we had to draw lessons for the future. Instead they are twisting this commission. They only carried out a firing squad against Conte and Speranza, but it will be a boomerang. Because Conte and Speranza have nothing to hide. That commission is an insult to the suffering of Italians».
