In the Unit of 21 April 1963 a photo eloquently frames the faces of Giorgio Ferrara and Duccio Trombadori at the head of a student procession protesting against the execution of Julian Grimau, Spanish communist leader, prisoner in Franco’s prisons, sentenced to death by strangulation. It is the most important memory I have of Giorgio, now that he is gone, after a long-announced disappearance but no less painful for those closest to him in terms of intimacy, friendship and brotherhood.
