AND Valerio Valenti, head of the Department for Civil Liberties and Immigration of the Interior Ministry, the delegate commissioner for the state of emergency for migrants approved by the government on April 11, 2023 (which will last for at least six months). This is foreseen by an ordinance signed by the head of the Civil Protection, Fabrizio Curcio. The measures, we read, concern the regions of Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Umbria, Marche, Lazio, Abruzzo, Molise, Basilicata, Calabria, Sardinia, Sicily and the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano. Thus excluding the four regions led by the Democratic Party that have not given the agreement: Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Puglia and Tuscany.

Valenti had been appointed head of the department at the Interior Ministry on 21 December 2022: he had previously been the prefect of Florence.
