Meloni welcomes his parliamentarians with ties and headscarves: “Now authoritative government”

Ties for men, scarves for women. Giorgia Meloni for just over an hour gathered the parliamentarians of the Brothers of Italy for the first time after the victory in the elections. And he honored them with gifts with the tricolor embossed on them (there was, however, no reference to the tricolor flame). A meeting held in Montecitorio, and which served the leader to make a picture of what will happen from now to the next few weeks. On Thursday the chambers will meet for the inauguration of the new legislature, the days immediately following will be those in which the formation of the next government will begin. On which Meloni is already at work since the immediate post-vote. And on which there have already been some impasses, for example on the choice of the Minister of Economy or on the placement within the government structure for Licia Ronzulli, Berlusconi’s loyalist.

“We are aware of the result we have achieved and feel the responsibility of having to face a government challenge in the most difficult condition in which Italy could find itself”, Meloni told his followers. Also adding a hint of personal pride for the party’s result: “We have led the Italian right to have the leadership of the coalition for the first time in the face of a government challenge. It is a challenge for which we feel full responsibility and intend to face it. demonstrating seriousness and ability. And I say to you: we must aim for the maximum. And I wish you to live five years of pride and victories “.

Continuing to talk about the government, Meloni remarked that in recent days the conversation with Matteo Salvini and Silvio Berlusconi has gone on: “I said it to the allies and I also say it to you who are the Brothers of Italy team in Parliament: we aim to create an authoritative and top-level government, which starts with skills“. Basically, an endorsement of a composition that provides for the inclusion of some technicians in strategic positions, on which the leaders of Lega and Forza Italia are much less convinced. Then a passage on the timing, so as not to waste too much time in the phase of consultations. “If and when the President of the Republic were to entrust us with the task, we aim to be ready and as fast as possible, even in the formation of the government”, said the future premier to her audience.

The high bills, the energy supply and the budget law are the priority challenges identified by Meloni. “Because our goal is to race, because we can’t and don’t want to waste time.”
