Meloni sees Morawiecki and Orban and tries to unblock the agreement on migrants

On the sidelines of the European Council, Giorgia Meloni met the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawieck, and the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban at the headquarters of the Italian delegation. The historical allies and models of the FdI leader have become concrete problems in these hours.

At the center of the summit: the wall on the pact of migrants of the two sovereign countries. The no of Warsaw and Budapest continues to block the works. Meloni’s move is clear: to bring Poland and Hungary to the positions of the rest of the EU. Mediate to forget sovereign ideologies in the name of pragmatism. But it doesn’t seem that simple. Poland will go to the vote in the autumn and no mediation is accepted on the relocation of migrants.

The day of the premier instead began at the ‘Amigò hotel in Brussels, with a working lunch which was also attended by the German chancellor Scholz, the French president Macron and the outgoing Spanish premier Sanchez, as well as Morawiecki himself, Iohannis, Rutte , DeCroo, Costa and Kristersson. European leaders discussed the EU’s ability to welcome and integrate new member states.

To get out of the stalemate of migrants, since there is no green light from Hungary and Poland, this solution is being thought of: a declaration on behalf of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, which does not require a unanimous adoption.
