Meloni on Environment Day: “Changing the paradigm, no more ideological ecologism”

Combining economic development and sustainability. To unblock the interventions that are stopped due to “a certain ideological ecologism”. Giorgia Meloni speaks on world environment day and reaffirms the government’s strategy. The priority – says the premier – is “the safety of our nation”. The Prime Minister defines it as “an epochal challenge”, especially in the light of what happened in Emilia-Romagna. “Unfortunately, we are paying for decades of failed choices and delays and the mistaken idea that the care of the territory was not a strategic investment. We need to change the paradigm”. As? For the prime minister it is necessary “to carry out the necessary works, quickly and well. And to understand that there are interventions that can no longer be postponed or blocked by bureaucracy or by a certain ideological ecologism”.

Words, those of Meloni, delivered via a video message to the Futuro Italia Remind think tank. “It is necessary for the public sector and the private sector to be allies, to constantly confront each other and always put the protection of the person at the center of every choice. Only in this way can we ensure that Italy, also on the sustainability front, can continue to be a beacon of innovation, of avant-garde, of genius for the rest of the world”, he added. And again: “One of the crucial challenges we are facing is knowing how to combine environmental sustainability and economic development, combining environmental conservation with human activities. We have always been convinced that environmental sustainability cannot be considered an abstract theory to be pursued without consider its real practical implementation and its consequences on our economic, social and productive fabric.We intend to combine environmental, economic and social sustainability, accompanying families, businesses and citizens towards the green transition without giving ourselves up to new dependencies or destroying entire production chains”.
