May 1st of the union, CGIL: “Today is Labor Day, not the government’s day”. Cisl: “We will evaluate the measures”

The union celebrates May 1st in the sign of the 75th anniversary of the Constitution, opening its demonstrations with the first article of the Charter: “Italy is a democratic republic, founded on work. The leader of the CGIL Landini attacks the government, accusing it of putting of patches and to go ahead with propaganda shots, and relaunch the mobilization: ‘Today is Labor Day, not the government’. Referring to the new measures at work, Bombardieri from the UIL says that a decree is not enough to support the employment, and answers on precariousness and security are needed.And for the CISL, Sbarra promises that the executive’s answers will be evaluated without making any concessions.

“The measures decided by the government are not going in the direction we requested. We will continue the joint mobilization and, if we don’t have answers, we are all ready to continue the mobilization together until we have obtained the results we need. For us, the The Constitution is not only to be celebrated for 75 years, it is the reference for changing the country and making reforms. And we will not allow anyone to change it”. Thus the general secretary of the CGIL, Maurizio Landiniconcluding the demonstration on May 1 from the stage: “We will continue until victory. They have not won and they will not win”.

“Sunday evening’s meeting at Palazzo Chigi makes sense if it opens up a new stable path towards participatory reforms. A single tree does not make a forest”. That’s the reason for our unitary mobilization”, he says about the upcoming demonstrations in Bologna, Milan and Naples: “We will not retreat a meter. We will evaluate the answers without foreclosures, but also without making discounts, because the decisive match, for Italy and the world of work, is now that we are playing”.
