Marco Pantani, death anniversary: murder and fake news

[ad_1]

19 years have passed since his death in Rimini on February 14, 2004, but some mysteries surrounding Marco Pantani’s death remain. At the end of 2021, the Pantani saga was in fact enriched by a new chapter, the request from the family (assisted this time by the lawyer Fiorenzo Alessi) to open an investigation into the causes of the Pirate’s death for the third time. Tonina Pantani finally wants to give peace to my heart. The investigation – coordinated by the chief prosecutor Elisabetta Melotti – starts upstream from a report from the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission which in 2018/2019 dealt with the case by listening, among others, to Fabio Miradossa, the man who supplied Pantani with the lethal dose. At the request of the president to explain why, in his opinion, Pantani would have been killed and by whom, Miradossa asked for the hearing to be classified: in the total 46 minutes covered by secrecy – but in the possession of the Rimini prosecutor’s office – there could be a new investigative lead. One line of investigation (this is indicated by the family) is the search for the two escorts who, on the morning Marco was killed, a taxi driver accompanied to the Residence Le Rose. The taxi driver was tracked down and heard for three hours by the Rimini Carabinieri at the beginning of February: he allegedly provided useful elements that the investigators are working on. On the one hand, the problem could be identifying the two escorts after 19 years (perhaps the last people to enter the room), on the other hand, finding them again to understand if they can provide useful elements. But also the new investigation heading towards archiving.
