The Anm: «No interference. We have a duty to intervene to protect independence and autonomy”. Conte: «Very serious attack on the judges by Meloni». Gasparri: «The judiciary is attacking the Constitution». Pd: “The premier should use prudence”

After two days of high tension due to the accusations of “interference” made by Palazzo Chigi to the robes, yesterday the harsh response of the National Association of Magistrates arrived. President Joseph Santalucia he denounced: “The judiciary has been hit in the heart». And a document, voted unanimously by the entire union of judges, reminded the government that “the ANM has a duty to intervene” because among its “high tasks” there is the protection “of the values of autonomy and independence ».

A reaction that multiplies the controversy between the government and the opposition. With the M5S leader Giuseppe Conte challenging Giorgia Meloni: «I am concerned about a Prime Minister who, hiding behind the screen of the “Chigi sources”, leads a very serious attack on magistrates who carry out their duty, accusing them of having even opened the electoral campaign for the European elections». That with the vice president of the Senate of Forza Italia, Maurizio Gasparri, who reaches the climax of the clash by saying: «The judiciary is attacking the Constitution. And this cannot be ignored by those who have the maximum responsibility for presiding over this super caste which considers itself sovereign and untouchable”.

More than sparks splashes of fire those rained down on justice yesterday. So much so as to push the group leaders of the Democratic Party, Francesco Boccia and Chiara Braga, to ask Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for “greater prudence and not to set fire to the political climate”. Because, they say, “this umpteenth clash with the Judiciary weakens our Republic».

Tension began to rise on Saturday morning, when at the opening of the central steering committee of theAnmSantalucia rejected the government’s accusations for the criticisms expressed by the ANM on the Nordio reform, but above all for the developments in the proceedings against the minister Daniela Santanché: «It is illegal to learn from the newspapers that you are being investigated, curiously when you are called to report to Parliament», they had stigmatized by Palazzo Chigi. And on the forced indictment of undersecretary Andrea Delmastro. The prosecutor had asked for his acquittal from the charge of disclosure of official secrecy relating to the reports of the penitentiary, referred to his colleague John Donzellion the talks in prison against the 41 bis conducted by Alfredo Cospito with the mafia neighbors (“it is not usual for the public party to ask for it to be dismissed and the judge for preliminary investigations to impose that the trial be started” they added by the government).

President Anm Santalucia protested: “Taking sides in a partisan way in the political confrontation in view of the European elections” is a “very serious” accusation, because “if a magistrate is partisan, or politically aligned, he is simply not a magistrate”. And he added: “I would have expected an immediate investigation to dispel any malicious suspicions, and if something had happened, proceed against the individual”. It’s still: “We intervened by bringing reasoned criticisms of the bill into the public debate. We do not belong to any party and we intervene by exercising a right of association”. Finally, the “suspicion of wanting to use the separation of careers and other justice reforms as a “punishment against the judiciary”. Then the accusation to the undersecretary of state, Alfredo Mantovano, “a highly esteemed former colleague, who speaks of interference by the judiciary in politics”. If the reference is to an investigation against a minister and to an order for the formulation of the charge, I can find no trace of institutional rationality », she says.

From the Pd, Deborah Serracchiani accuses: «Meloni like Berlusconi. His guarantee is only for party associates ». While Enrico Costa (Azione) points out: «It is the festival of field invasions».
