Magi new secretary of Più Europa. Pizzarotti chosen as president

Riccardo Magi he is the new national secretary of Più Europa. This was decided by the party congress of Emma Boninowhich with 211 votes (31 blank ballots, 6 void and 2 non-voting) chose Magi as successor of Benedict DellaVedova. Instead, the new president of Più Europa is Federico Pizzarotti, who attempted to take over the party but ended up with 203 votes (30 ballots were void). “Thank you – said the former mayor of Parma – we are tired but enthusiastic about a journey that is beginning. Now let’s stop talking about numbers but only about more Europe”.

Many within Più Europa suspected the intentions of the former 5S Pizzarotti. The concern was that wanted to bring grist to the mill of the new liberal democratic party formed by Action and Italia viva, a more agile way to overcome the obstacle of 4 percent at the next European elections. But the Magi-Pizzarotti ticket was baptized in recent days by Emma Bonino who, addressing the former mayor of Parma, said: “I’m intrigued by this graft, I don’t know how much your so different political histories will manage to amalgamate, I confess that if we had won I wouldn’t have come looking for you…”

Magi, after his appointment as new secretary, underlined that “this congress has not been easy, but it has fully carried out its task with debate, competition, with rules. It has given us the guidelines to work on, a method to work on , being clear that everyone is working together on the basis of the responsibilities that the Statute assigns to them”.

As party treasurer she was elected Carla Taibi.
