“Thank you my friend Fabio Fazio because after the broadcast he made with me on January 27″ at the Shoah Memorial in Milan “thousands of people suddenly arrived here and discovered that this place was in Milan and was nearby”. life senator Liliana Segre speaking at a conference on anti-Semitism at the Holocaust Memorial in Milan with Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi.

“I thank Fazio very much for this – added the senator, clearly referring to the announcement of Fazio’s move from Rai to Discovery – because it was a very popular broadcast, which made this place known to many categories that were not teachers”.

The Holocaust Memorial in Milan “has exceeded 100,000 visitors since 1 January, including 60,000 students”. He said it Roberto Jarach, president of the Holocaust Memorial Foundation, speaking at the Oscad conference ‘The Victims of Hate’. “This is a gratification for me and for those who work here – underlined Jarach -. Our path has seen an increase in the preparation of visiting students, who have approached each other with awareness, perception and evaluation. It is not a normal school visit”.

The first year of the opening of the Memorial, “there were a few thousand students, in the current school year, in a few weeks, we will reach almost 60 thousand students visiting the Memorial” assured Jarach, explaining that even in the Covid period the activity has not stopped. “We presented books to maintain the image of the Memorial – he said -. We had, at the instigation of Senator Segre, Chiara Ferragni who moved young people. From there we began to see yet another step forward, then on the 27th January we had the show ‘Che tempo che fa’ by Fabio Fazio”. Thanks to these last two initiatives, the results were significant: “In December we had 3,600 non-student visitors and in February 15,600, therefore multiplied by five”.

Even the prefect of Milan, Renato Saccone, wanted to underline the results obtained by the Memorial: “They are the result of decades of tenacity by an initially small group with Senator Liliana Segre at the center, who patiently built this symbolic and iconic place, which plays a fundamental role in formation”.
