Giorgia Meloni said yesterday at Vinitaly in Verona – shortly after having pulled the ears of the President of the Senate Ignazio La Russa because of the nonsense said on via Rasella (“institutional misgrammar”) – that wine, for Italy, “is not only an economic fact but it is also a cultural fact, it is a fundamental piece of our identity and it is in the government’s interest to support this world”. The Prime Minister’s words could be dismissed with a shrug and quickly slipped into the folder of obvious, obvious and banal statements.
