La Russa without brakes on TV: “Center-right women? Lowered the aesthetic level. What a pity a gay son”

It is a very little institutional Ignazio La Russa who will be broadcast tonight on Beasts on Rai2. Interviewed by Francesca Fagnani, the president of the Senate shows off his proverbial verve. With the journalist who interviews him, he shys away a bit at the beginning – «I don’t feel like a beast, if anything a bunny in front of her» – and indeed assures: «No one has ever called me “La Rissa”, in fact they called me the firemen”. He even says he doesn’t despise the definition of a Christian Democrat (“Why not?”).

But these are only the initial skirmishes, because as the conversation progresses, La Russa lets himself go. First of all, you have something for Silvio Berlusconi: «Sometimes I fear that Berlusconi is advised, with age one changes. I believe that if Berlusconi is to be advised, something is not right. He never took advice.” Then he reveals a background on the famous outburst of the Cavaliere in the classroom at Palazzo Madama, in October, immortalized by photographers during the votes to elect the president of the Senate: «Berlusconi’s vaffa in the classroom was for Giorgia, I say it for the first time, for the stakes for Ronzulli as minister ». But, she adds, “Silvio is beginning to understand that Giorgia is not a little girl who grew up too quickly, but a state leader”.

The judgments on the leader of Forza Italia, however, are accompanied by an assurance: «Relations with Berlusconi are excellent. I rejoiced a lot at the absolution. I didn’t call him because I thought he’d been attacked, but I’ll do it in the next few days ». Less good are relations with Giorgio Mulè, Fi, vice president of the Chamber, whose name he also cripples: «Mules… what’s his name? Mule! I don’t like him, I say it. I have no enemies (in Parliament, ed), but I don’t like him ».

The presenter teases him by asking him for an opinion on female parliamentarians, knowing his enthusiasm for women. He doesn’t disappoint: «I love the female gender…», she admits. And then here are the report cards: «The aesthetic level of women in the center-right has decreased, quality and ability have increased. I don’t look to the left…” In general, he says, “equality in politics is not achieved with women’s quotas. It will be achieved when a fat, ugly and stupid woman holds an important position. Because there are fat, ugly and stupid men who hold important roles».

Get the hint, Fagnani insists on gender issues and asks him how he would take it if a son confessed to being homosexual: «I would regretfully accept the news of a gay son: as if he were a Milan supporter, different from me. A straight father would like his son to be like him.”
