After the train strike on Thursday 13 July, Saturday 15 July will be a day of hardship for air transport. The unions have in fact proclaimed a strike by workers in the aviation sector and handling companies from 10 to 18 in support of the dispute for the renewal of the labor contract which has expired for 6 years. The unrest is currently confirmed by the National Civil Aviation Authority and has already led to the cancellation of many flights. Ita Airways has, for example, communicated the cancellation of 133 national and international flights, scheduled for July 15th (HERE THE LIST). For the moment, the other carriers have not announced similar measures. However, Enac has published a list of guaranteed flights even on strike days (HERE THE LIST).

Eng: canceled flights from Linate and Fiumicino

For example, the canceled flights include the connections of Milan Linate and Rome Fiumicino with the main European capitals, as well as the routes to Sicily. However, Ita Airways has activated an extraordinary plan to limit the inconvenience of passengers, rebooking the largest possible number of travelers involved in the cancellations on the first available flights: 40% will be able to fly on the same day as the strike, assures the airline. In any case, passengers who have purchased an Ita Airways ticket to travel on July 15th, in the event of cancellation or modification of their flight schedule, will be able to change the booking without any penalty or request a refund of the ticket (only in the event in which the flight has been canceled or has been delayed by more than 5 hours) no later than 22 July.

The inconvenience for Malta Air

Also on Saturday 15 July, the pilots of the Malta Air company which operates Ryanair flights will cross arms. Filt Cgil, Uiltrasporti and Ugl Trasporto Aereo jointly called the protest following the signing by some subjects of a totally unsatisfactory agreement for the pilots category and given the company’s total closure to dialogue and confrontation. According to the three trade unions, this is an absolutely unsatisfactory agreement and not very respectful of the professionalism and contribution that the crew has ensured. On the company’s website, at the moment, there are no flight cancellations but only delays in departure of between 30 minutes and 3 and a half hours.

Vueling assistants

Finally, from 10 to 18 strike by the pilots and flight attendants of the Vueling company who are members of the Filt CGIL due to the company’s lack of willingness to develop healthy and constructive industrial relations with the trade union organization most representative of the company’s workers’ needs.
