Andrea Orlando, the Democratic Party has risen against the Nordio bill.

What are the points that do not convince you?
«My judgment is anything but prejudicial, having tried to address the problems that Nordio poses. Two years ago we ruled out the possibility of canceling the crime of abuse of office because it risks pushing, in some more serious situations, the use of other much more defamatory crimes and because we were sure that the cancellation tout court was in conflict with the legislation supranational. According to the minister, if Europe asks for it we will rewrite the crime, but then why not do it directly? Establishing for interceptions what is public but not publishable of deposited documents does not seem like a great idea at the time of social networks. Furthermore, the minister cites episodes prior to the full entry into force of my reform as examples of serious violations of privacy. But the emblem of this legislation “in favor of the camera” are the rules on the interrogation that must precede the arrest, on paper they can be shared provided that an adequate number of magistrates is guaranteed in the small courts and a significant number of escapes. Thing that this government nor others are able to handle and postpone the effectiveness of two years.

However, the mayors of the Democratic Party agree with Nordio on the abuse of office.
«I understand the raw nerve due to years in which it was used to review discretionary choices, but it seems to me that the arguments used are well founded if they refer to the old formulation, not to that of 2020. If anything, the legislation could be monitored adequately and strictly Cartabia on the probability assessment of the conviction before proceeding with the registration of crimes of this type”.

In your opinion, does the government want to lower the bar of legality checks?
«It has already done so, with the procurement code, in a country with four pervasive mafias. Reviewing the rules on spending quality control before spending 300 billion is a danger and weakens us in the negotiations on the new stability pact. A noose that is tightening around Italy’s neck again. Here, we are offering the soap of arguments to tighten it ».

Schlein took to the streets with Conte. Evaluation mistake?
«In the coming months we will have to be the link between very different squares. Participants cannot be held responsible for everything that is said in those contexts. In this case it was a demonstration against precariousness and for the defense of basic income, objectives that we share. You take risks to avoid the biggest one: staying at home and isolating yourself.

Half of the Democratic Party has risen.
« The period of the Conte bis came to mind, everyone wanted to stay in government but a part of the party put the difficulties in the relationship with the M5S on the account of those who led it. We all know that to fight the right it is necessary to rebuild the alliance, but some are thinking of making others pay the costs. I say let’s manage them together, without subordination, on the basis of our strong proposal, contrasting together the demagogic traits that still characterize sectors of the movement”.

The line on Ukraine is not as clear as with Letta…
«It is now clear to increasingly broad sectors of allied governments, political forces and public opinion that alongside military support, political-diplomatic initiative must be strengthened. Not implementing the position without taking this into account would be absurd. It seems to me that the Biden administration does not do it either, which in these hours is speaking with the Chinese leaders”.
