Bruno Murzi, heart surgeon and mayor in his second term (he obtained 65% of the votes) in Forte dei Marmi of a civic council, speaks of an unsustainable situation and looks to the future with great concern. Why unsustainable?
«We have one hundred bathing establishments, each of which has a value between 2 and 3 million euros, and in my Municipality we can have only one manager and only one official of the state property. Tell me how it is possible to organize races by December in these conditions. I don’t like to use the word impossible, but I say that the situation is incredibly difficult».

Have you talked to the bathroom managers?
«Of course, they are worried, appalled, angry. Some are convinced that the latest sentence is like a tombstone for their activities, others see glimmers due to the mapping, i.e. the possibility of assessing whether there is room for new concessions in Italy”.

But are you for or against Bolkestein?
“It’s not a matter of being for or for. Now we just have to figure out what will happen. And above all, what must we do to enforce a law that, whether we like it or not, must be respected».

So there is no certainty?
“Obviously. Of only one thing I am certain.”

Which one, mayor Murzi?
«I’m sure that we arrived at this decision in the worst possible situation, without protection for the dealers, without security for the future, without the possibility of investing in the future. However you look at this story it is a great defeat for everyone ».
