Rome against the lack of allocation of funds for the section of the metro that goes from Piazza Venezia to Piazzale Clodio: 1.2 billion are needed, which would arrive divided with funds from other cities, while for the Milan-Cortina Olympics there are 400 million in the budget lawThe mayor of the capital Roberto Gualtieri denounced the matter in an interview with Il Messaggero in which he spoke of a devastating effect for the future of Rome if the funds did not arrive.

In fact, the 2.1 billion euros needed to complete Metro C are not included in the drafts of the budget maneuver. Including the 1.2 billion without which the T2 section between Piazza Venezia and Piazzale Clodio cannot be unblocked, which instead had been foreseen in the Def.

The mayor Roberto Gualtieri is in continuous contact with Palazzo Chigi, but in the meantime he makes it known that without these resources, it will be impossible to use even the loans already obtained. We are talking about a draft that has been circulating in these hours. But the official budget law has not yet been sent to Parliament and therefore we do not yet have the definitive text. I am confident – he explains – that the final one will contain the resources necessary to complete a fundamental work for the capital and for the country. Gualtieri then adds: I have had assurances from Palazzo Chigi that the problem will be addressed and I hope that the final text contains the answers we expect.

The theme of the consequences on Roman mobility without the funds is central. The effect would be devastating. Suffice it to say that without these additional resources – explains the mayor – the 990 million already available to excavate between Piazza Venezia and Piazzale Clodio could not even be used. So work on the new section could not start. I would like to remind you that the Metro C represents a decisive element for the mobility of Rome which, as we know, unfortunately has a strong structural gap in rail transport which absolutely needs to be filled. With the extension of line C we will be able to connect the underground network with the San Pietro area and reach the northern quadrant of the city up to the Farnesina without forgetting the fundamental connection with line A in Ottaviano.
