Of Claudio Bozza

The deputy “robbed” by Action, the rumors about Gelmini-Carfagna and the sabotage of the Calendian party machine. Now the former premier is also finding support in the former enemy Fioroni

“Carlo? For him there is not a “moral” question, but a “humoral one. If he continues like this, he won’t even have his party anymore.’ Matteo Renzi, alias Machiavelli, he smiles mockingly walking behind the Senate.
The former premier is satisfied, he has combined another of his own: this time it is Carlo Calenda, his former minister, who pays the price.
then «amico-for-force» at the latest Policies (alliance of mutual convenience to be sure of entering Parliament) with the ambitious goal of building the Third Pole (born and dead in the blink of an eye).

Then, however, the knots came home to roost. Clear character incompatibility: the overflowing ego of both. And since water and oil are impossible to mix, the credits (perhaps even a little later than expected) arrived on time.
A month has passed since Renzi triggered what his loyalists sarcastically renamed “Operation Carletto”.
As in all wars, all that was needed was an incident to hold on to. The opportunity presented itself on April 10, when the leader of Italia viva unleashed the flak after that of Action seriously questioned the possibility of building a single reformist container, merging the two parties. Heavens open up, also because Calenda had let it be known that the measure had been exceeded:
Renzi had just informed him that he would also become director of The Reformist.

From then on, the situation escalated. Renzi, with the technique of the Chinese drop, has carried out a series of sabotages to weaken his former ally, which now, barring twists and turns, they will force Action to move to the Mixed group in the Senate, with a blow to the image and political weight in the balance of Palazzo Madama. As a first move, to reach the minimum number of 6 senators from living Italy (necessary to form an autonomous group), Renzi first convinced Enrico Borghi to leave the Democratic Party and join him. At that point, having put Action “in the minority”, the former prime minister triggered “phase two”, precisely that of sabotage. First, having smelled the stomach aches inside the Calendians, he began to spread rumors that two bigwigs like Mara Carfagna and Mariastella Gelmini were negotiating a sensational return to Forza Italia. Hypothesis denied by both, but in the meantime the rumors had made their way.

At this point the final siege began. Suddenly,
the former prime minister announced the “purchase” of the deputy for Action Naike Piattini and Giulia Pigoni, regional councilor, party secretary in Emilia-Romagna and until then a loyal follower of Matteo Richetti,
right arm of Calenda. The situation has become so rotten that, within a few days, the two parties will also divorce in Parliament.

All while Renzi, to feed the “Operation Carletto”, he has also reactivated relations with an old fox like Beppe Fioroni, who had fought him without quarter when he was secretary of the Democratic Party. But in politics things change. And now even «Beppe», after leaving the dem a minute after the election of Elly Schlein to the secretariat, even receives winks from «Matteo». The reason? In Puglia, taking advantage of his network of ex Popular Catholics, Fioroni is snatching two regional councilors right from Action. One of the two is Ruggero Mennea, cousin of the Olympic king Peter.
