Dino Giarrussoa former exponent of the 5 Star Movement, announced his entry into the Democratic Party from the stage of the convention promoted in Milan by Stefano Bonaccini.

«Today I officially announce my entry into the Democratic Party. With great joy and pride, I enter a house that has existed for some time with respect for those who built it and with humility – explained the current independent MEP -. I believe a strong center-left is needed, I believe in the rebirth project that Bonaccini has in mind ».

From the stage, Giarrusso addressed his former party, M5S, saying, “let’s not fight who has half a point more or less, let’s unite and then make progress together”.

Giarrusso had left the Movement last May, accusing the grillini of having “silenced” him and of continuing to remain in the then Draghi government: “I struggle to understand why we have to stay there,” he said, announcing his willingness to found his own political movement.

The former Hyena had also criticized Conte (“A tragic circle around him”), of which he said he shared Ukraine’s position on weapons (“We cannot accept an escalation on weapons”). Giarrusso had also expressed himself in favor of the position of the Cinquestelle on the waste-to-energy plant in Rome (“A just, sacrosanct battle”), wanted by the mayor of the capital Gualtieri (Pd).

«I have criticized the Democratic Party a lot in the past», admitted Giarrusso from the stage, «someone will bring up the memes. But you criticize what you really love, the left and its values ​​that I have always loved. Someone can pull out my youthful and less youthful photos: “You will always and forever find me on the same side”, said Francesco De Gregori», he added making the gesture of a clenched fist.
