Greeting message from the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarellato dad Francis. Holy Easter offers me the most welcome opportunity to offer Your Holiness the most fervent wishes from the Italian Republic and from myself. In the face of continued brutal Russian aggression to Ukraine and to the crisis scenarios that afflict different areas of the world his repeated appeals to concord among peoples recall everyone – starting with those with governmental responsibilities – to the demands of that bond of brotherhood which prepares us for the dialogue and mutual understandingwrites the head of state.

I therefore hope that the Easter holidays will allow us to deepen the reflection begun sixty years ago by Saint John XXIII with the Encyclical Letter “on peace among all peoples founded on truth, justice, love and freedom”: in fact, more that the contribution of all men and women of good will in the implementation of the common good has never been necessary to provide an answer to humanity’s yearning for peace. In this spirit, I renew to you, Holy Father, my sincere and affectionate wishes for Easter, together with my cordial congratulations on the now imminent anniversary of Saint George, concludes the President of the Republic.
