An ever-present threat on the horizon of the government, so much so that it was Prime Minister Meloni herself who included a report on the point in a recent Council of Ministers. Now the government says they are following “what is happening carefully”. And a specific intervention by the executive to limit the damage of the weekend is not excluded.
The fact is that while two years ago the tools to respond to this type of cyber invasion were inferior, today the manufacturer of the software that ended up under attack (VMware) has already implemented corrective measures to reduce the vulnerability. Except that, as sources of the services have made known, most of the Italian health companies would not have carried out the software update, thus exposing themselves to a precarious condition. With the result that the action taken in the last 24 hours could lead not only to a slowdown but to a real block of online systems. This is precisely what Palazzo Chigi would like to avoid.
