The presidency of the intelligence committee goes, for the second time, to the former defense minister of the Democratic Party. Giovanni Donzelli (FdI) elected vice president, while Ettore Rosato (Azione-Iv) is the new secretary

The new chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for the Security of the Republic (Copasir) is Lorenzo Guerini, deputy of the Democratic Party. The commission, which has 10 members divided equally between the majority and the opposition – and the latter by law must hold the presidency – elected the former defense minister with 9 votes. For Guerini this is the second time as chairman of the intelligence committee: the first was between 2018 and 2019. The vice-presidency instead went to John Donzelliof Fratelli d’Italia, while Hector Rosato of the Third pole (Action-Iv) is the new secretary.

Copasir is a fundamental body because it allows the opposition to control the activities of the government. In fact, the committee can access any confidential document and information: from the Intelligence Services, to the Public Administration, to the Judicial Authority.
