Government, Pope Francis receives Prime Minister Meloni-Corriere.it on Tuesday

Tuesday morning meeting between the Pope and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Francis will receive the President of the Council of Ministers in audience. The appointment results from the Pope’s agenda. The meeting will be held at 10 at the Apostolic Palace and follows the one that Prime Minister Meloni holds on Monday with the president of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

In the meantime, during the audience with the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Holy See for the presentation of greetings for the new year, Pope Francis once again spoke of the third world war and asked for an immediate end to this senseless conflict in Ukraine. Recalling that the attacks on civilian infrastructures in this war lead people to lose their lives not only due to bombs and violence, but also to hunger and cold, the Pope, speaking to the ambassadors, recalled Gaudium et spes, according to which every act of war, which aims indiscriminately at the destruction of entire cities or vast regions and their inhabitants, is a crime against God and against humanity itself and must be condemned firmly and without hesitation.
