In the first half of 2023, the production of Gorgonzola Dop increased significantly, settling at 2,520,741 forms. The figure, compared with the same period of the previous year, shows an increase of 109,484 wheels (+4.54%) and, compared to 2021, of 37,205 wheels (+1.50%). These are the data disclosed by Consortium for the protection of Gorgonzola Dop cheesewhich continues to see growing demand, both nationally and internationally, thanks to its unique taste and certified excellence.

The data on exports, which stop in the first quarter of the year, confirm the strength of blue cheese on foreign markets. In fact, as of 31.03.2023, 6,323 tons were exported, marking an increase of 1.15% compared to the same period in 2023.

Exports to intra-EU countries continue to make up the largest share of sales abroad, with 5,454 tons (+0.8% compared to 2022), underlining the strong presence of Gorgonzola Dop in the gastronomic heart of Europe. But the Italian product has also conquered the rest of the world, with a 3.1% increase in exports to non-EU countries.

These data represent not only good news for manufacturers Gorgonzola Dopbut also a further confirmation of the fundamental role that theItalian agribusiness play globally.
